Founder and Managing Director
Clifford Giles is Founder & Managing Director of IPO Capital Partners Ltd (IPO Capital). IPO Capital is an active investment firm funded by sector-experienced entrepreneurs that specialises in deploying pre-IPO funding to innovative, high growth private companies committed to listing on a recognised exchange within a 6-18 month period.
Clifford leads the firm’s originating and investment process. He is focused on idea generation, investment strategy, and is responsible for cultivating the firm’s external advisors, including economic consultants.
Clifford’s background is in financial services focused on equity markets and strengths lie in seeing opportunities where others see adversity. He has built IPO Capital from start-up with two cornerstone investors through to funding and listing companies with an aggregate market capitalisation in excess of £200m. He manages IPO Capital’s portfolio and continues to generate investment multiples through carefully crafted strategies. Having proven the underlying investment model he is now focused on extending funding to a wider global business community.
Originally from Australia, educated at Cranbrook School, Sydney, Clifford is married, with two children and is an avid rugby enthusiast.
Simon Kiero Watson
Having built a successful career as a commercial banker at Lloyds TSB, Simon left banking and moved into corporate finance, as Head of Business Products at the Catalyst Investment Group, he established the first Approved EIS Fund to be offered to the public in the UK.
He was Managing Director of the share trading information platform for unlisted companies, 535X. Simon has also acted as a marketing and management consultant to corporate finance houses and stockbroking firms in London.
As Head of Markets at GXG Markets he was responsible for establishing the business strategy of delivering a pan-European exchange for growth companies. More recently he has worked as a consultant at the ICAP Securities and Derivatives Exchange (ISDX) helping them turn around their business model.
Non Executive Director
Jonathan’s career in the financial services industry spans over 35 years, much of it as a banker. Initially joining merchant bank Hill Samuel as a graduate trainee, he worked mostly in the UK but also in South Africa, with further assignments in Hong Kong, Singapore and Luxembourg. His focus was primarily on corporate financing, risk and banking management, particularly underperforming and impaired situations. Appointed a board Director in 1989, he went on to become Head of Banking before moving on in 1996 to positions at Rabobank, Credit Suisse, UBS and HSBC.
A founding partner of our principal firm, Dante Partners LLP, where he has specific responsibilities for the compliance and finance functions, Jonathan has many years’ experience as a board member. Jonathan has a MA(Hons) degree in Economics & Economic History from the University of Edinburgh.
Investor & finance Director
Mark is a professionally qualified (ACIS) executive with over 30 years’ experience in Finance and Operations Director positions in a variety of B2B environments – mainly in the Technology, IT and Financial Services sectors. His particular expertise lies in the SME space, specifically in start-up and early-stage businesses – he has been instrumental in setting up several, including a specialist car company in the 1980’s, two leasing companies and most recently a wealth and investment management group in central London.
In the 1990’s he was one of an MBI team of four who turned round and built up a short-term IT rental business, taking turnover from under £1m to over £16m and turning a loss of £40,000 into annual profits in excess of £1.5m.
This background has given Mark extensive experience in managing change, rapid-growth and the challenges that face fast-developing businesses – such as working capital constraints, fund raising and the need to implement and evolve financial systems and controls. During his career, he has been involved in a number of MBO, MBI and IPO processes, giving him extensive experience of due diligence, capital raising and company acquisitions / disposals.
Peter is an experienced senior company secretary, law graduate and legal consultant with over 30 years experience. He uses his legal and corporate communication skills to support clients in achieving their goals, establishing solid companies and promoting real growth by assisting them in building a firm base of corporate compliance and good governance. Apart from overseeing and managing the quality and delivery of London Registrars’ company secretarial and paralegal services, he regularly attends and advises at board meetings and commissions papers on compliance and governance for consideration at those meetings.
Peter is the co-founder of London Registrars Ltd, and as Director of Corporate Governance and Compliance since 1999, he has helped many companies establish and run their businesses by providing advice and solutions tailored to their specific requirements. As well as extensive experience working with non-listed companies, Peter has also first-hand experience working with companies listed on a number of European exchanges including the GXG, AIM, and Frankfurt.
